Making A DMV Worker Feel Loved
All life is suffering
Is the first noble truth
Buddhist audiobook says
As I mindlessly drive
To the next daily errand
Starting to understand
Why it hurts to be alive
Going about day to day
Fake smile plastered to a facade
But when it works
And cheesy small talk
Gets a laugh
Then a smile back
It makes me think
Maybe this life
Is worth living
No matter how bad it hurts
If I can make the pain
Go just a little bit away
For someone else
I’ve done my part
A human sacrifice
Torn apart
For other’s
Happiness
Dealing With Emotions 101
I wrote a poem on a napkin
Because it was on hand
When words burst from soul
Finding it again later on
Made me bawl my eyes out
Then I blew my nose with
The scripture ridden wipe
And threw it in the trash
Thich Quang Duc
Drove slowly down to the capital of Vietnam
Stepped out to the protest filled streets
Sat full lotus in the center of it all
Absolute silence one final time
Before doused in petrol
And reciting a prayer
Dropped a lit match
Into his own lap
Perfectly still
Until the ripping flames crumpled his flesh
Soul readily absorbed into the oneness
If he can, and he
Is human, then I
Too can remain
Stoic while
Burning alive
Burning alive
Burning
Alive
"Lead on god and destiny
to that goal fixed for me long ago
I will follow and not stumble; even if my will is weak
I will soldier on"
